Alec Martinez Scholarship
The Vacaville Jets are excited to announce the 2022-2023 recipient of the Alec Martinez Scholarship. Jets Bantam A player, Spencer Bell has been selected to receive the scholarship. Spencer has been a Jet for almost ten years now. Starting as a mite, Spencer has played with the Jets organization consecutively at every level. Now as a Bantam, he has become a leader and was selected as an Assistant Captain of his team. Spencer’s coach, Kody Thomas, recently expressed that Spencer is a “major asset on and off the ice.” Coach Thomas expressed that Spencer “is known for his creativity, focus and dedication to the sport of ice hockey.” Spencer is known amongst his peers as good teammate and for always having a great work ethic at the rink.
Spencer is currently a freshmen at Vintage High School and maintains a 4.0 GPA on top of being an athlete. Spencer can also be found assisting future hockey players as a volunteer coach/referee in the Learn to Skate and Free Hockey programs at Vacaville Ice Sports. Spencer’s goal is to eventually attend a college with a competitive hockey program and continue playing the sport he loves after high school.
We would like to congratulate Spencer on his hard work and dedication to his team, and for being a great representative of the Vacaville Jets Youth Hockey Organization. The Alec Martinez Scholarship is given to the player who demonstrates focus, courage, a strong work ethic, and a deep passion for the sport of hockey. Spencer Bell represents all of these qualities with maturity and ability to work hard. Great job Spencer, keep it up!
Alec Martinez is a former player of Coach Cahn's. When playing for Coach Cahn, Alec was an average player who decided to put the work in and make his dreams happen. He was drafted to the NHL by the LA Kings in 2007, and is known for scoring the overtime goal to clinch the Stanley Cup Final in 2014. He currently plays for the Vegas Golden Knights and has been a long time support of the Vacaville Jets.
