Vacaville Jets Youth Hockey Organization Scholarship Program

We are pleased to announce that VJYHO will be sponsoring a Scholarship Program.  We will offer a limited number of need-based partial scholarships for players currently on one of our travel teams this season.

All awards will be applied directly to the member’s VJYHO dues and are not redeemable for cash. All award decisions are at the discretion of the VJYHO Board of Directors and are only awarded when funds are available.

Please note, VJYHO scholarships are not designed for long-term or continued financial support. Generally, these are a one-time, partial scholarship award intended for members facing temporary financial hardship or a compelling current-event resulting in the need for scholarship consideration.

Process

• Players must first be registered with VJYHO.

• Scholarship application form must be completed and include all the information requested on the form. Incomplete packages will not be considered.

• Submit applications to the Hockey Director, Tony Manino in a sealed envelope; may be dropped off at Vacaville Ice sports.

• Notifications will be made as soon as possible upon the final decision of the Scholarship Program committee, a sub-group of the Board of Directors.

Timeline                                                                                   

• October 15th - Scholarship applications deadline

• November 1st - Scholarships announced

Decisions based on the following criteria:

• Combined Family Income - Income Tax Returns & W2’s

• Employment of parents - Recent Paycheck Stubs required

• Number of years with VJYHO

• Number of players from family registered with VJYHO

• Volunteer Activity

• Final report card from previous school year

• Letter of Recommendation from a non-hockey club member or non-family member

• Statement from player as to his/her goals for the future (both personal and hockey related)

• Statement from parents describing the current situation

Volunteer Activity    

VJYHO is a club run by volunteers.  As such, you as a scholarship applicant or recipient will be asked to perform 10 hours of some type of volunteer service for your club. We also have a fundraising program you can actively participate in to defray your expenses throughout the season.

Confidentiality

All application information will be held in strict confidence by the Scholarship Program committee, a sub-group of the Board of Directors and information will be used solely for the determination of scholarship awards.
